This
project to conduct research on Firehouse 21 was a collaborative
effort and involved students from the Urban School of San Francisco,
the Instructional Technology (ITEC) Department of San Francisco
State University, and the Museum Studies Department of SFSU.
Students from the Urban School conducted research on the building
and its environment and the students from the ITEC department
developed this website. The Museum Studies department
is assisting in currating an exhibit of the Urban School student's findings
and a model maker from the Design and Industry department
of SFSU is developing two scale models of the historic building.
All of this is effort is funded through a grant from The
History Channel and is under the auspices of the Virtual
Museum of the City of San Francisco (VMCSF). Graduate students
volunteered to work with the high school students on this project
in a supervisory role as part of their experiential training.
