| Two
of the firehouses remain and are now San Francisco Landmarks
# 89 and # 93. At 1152 Oak Street “Old 21” stands
over looking the busy street it resides on. The other remaining
station is located at 3022 Washington Street. His work on
these buildings prompted California Architect and Building
News to dub him, “the pioneer native-born architect”
in 1884.
Henriksen served three years in the mid
1880s as the Secretary of the San Francisco Chapter of the
AIA (American Institute of Architects).
