Tomorrow night will be the last night out for thousands of enemy aliens and American-
Drastic new curfew regulations, effective Friday, will be enforced without exception, the Wartime Civil Control Administration emphasized today. The new order, they said, will not permit any persons affected by it to continue working nights. All such persons must remain in their homes from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. and, during other hours, may only travel between their homes and places of employment or to WCCA offices to wind up their affairs before evacuating the area.
Also prohibited is the possession of fire arms, ammunition, short wave radios, cameras or other items previously listed as contraband only if held by enemy aliens.
Nearly 1000 Japanese already are at the WCCA reception center at Manzanar, in the Owens Valley. Santa Anita Park was being remodeled to serve as an induction center for evacuees. They will be permitted to assemble there, temporarily, while arrangements are being made to resettle them in non-military areas.
LOS ANGELES, MARCH 25.A young Japanese who complained that his wife was being held prisoner by her alien parents today lost his court attempt to force her to return.
Shigenori Nishikawa, 25, said his bride of one year, Chiye, was being detained by her parents so she could not accompany him to the Japanese reception center at Owens Valley.
She appeared in court, however, and testified she preferred living with her parents. Superior Judge Edward R. Brand denied Nishikawas plea, contending that a married woman has a right to leave her husband if she wishes.
Both Nishikawa and his wife are American born.
