where is your museum located? I am a native and just found your website thru linking with Golden Legacy. I would like to visit the museum. I recently acquired a pair of lotus slippers in an antique store here and went on the net to get more information on them. Found your article and it reminded me of what my grandmother told me and also what I learned from my history teacher from Chinese School. Your website surprised me on how much info you have to offer about my favorite city. Many thanks!

The exhibit of the 1906 Earthquake has helped my 12 year old daughter with her High School homework. She has to write a ficticious newspaper article about it for her Geography Assessment. Thank you very much.

Dear Gladys--Greetings! Enjoyed your Oscar Wilde in San Francisco page. Do you, perchance, know the source of Wilde's 1882 quote: "I left [or lost] my heart in San Francisco." Jerry Carroll in the morning (12-8-97) Chronicle makes reference to it on page E2 but I can't find any record of it in collected letters, biographies, etc. Any ideas? Many thanks!

I'm teaching Microbiology, and wanted to be sure I had the right date fro the earthquake of 1906, since that's when plague became endemic in the USA. I liked the map of the epicenter; I visited the Bay area in the summer of 1996, so I could appreciate the map a lot more. Didn't have time for a long visit of your web site, but it looks pretty good. Sometime I'll come back and visit the Rock N Roll section!

Excelent info. on 1906 earthquake. I do have a personal interest due to the fact that my grandmother lost contact with her brother who emigrated to America with his Aunty and Unle before the 1906 quake hit. If you could direct me towards more information on the casualty list that you have so painstakingly prepared, I would be very grateful. Thanks again for a visit to an outstanding website. Tom

I thought the section and material on The Quake of 1906 was absolutely fantastic. The eyewitness reoprts and the photographs really bring it life for the visitor. I liked the chronological report of events that were taking place during the quake and the four days the fire raged. Not only did I find it extremely interesting I also learned from this exhibit.

Needed to know more about my city, and since I've retired, have the place to do it now. I tried out a few pages - biography, labor, etc., and found them informative. Just whetted my apetite for a visit to your museum, about which I've heard so much. Are you really going to move to Golden Gate Park in a new facility, as suggested by Mayor Willie Brown? I would support that!

I like being able to learn about the history of the City from my computer since I don't get down to Fisherman's wharf much these days. Nice collection from what I have seen. I am a history buff even though I never have the time to enjoy much exploring anymore. Do you ever have a need for volunteers? I might like to give some time depending upon what is needed. Thanks.

As a native San Franciscan, I was pleased to have a chance to visit the Museum on-line as well as in person. (When I get home.) Oh, I am SOOOO homesick. At any rate, the President of Felician College, where I work, is coming out to S.F. for a visit in two weeks and I am strongly recommending that she visit the Museum. Thank you for providing a place where natives and tourists alike can learn about The City.

Wonderful site, as the son of a 1906 earthquake survivor I enjoyed the photos and the thumbnail sketches of the neighbor hoods. My father was raised in the Butcher Town area that was supposedly near Hunters Point. Are there any maps available showing this area around 1900? The family lived at 1321 9th St. Thanks for a great site and I will visit often.

I was fortunate enough to be at the Wharf over the past weekend, but was unable to visit your Museum. I have always been fascinated by San Francisco and its rich history. There is even a possibility that one of our "missing link" ancestors died in the Great Earthquake. Your site was a real pleasure to uncover and I have spent (and will continue to spend) many hours reading over your articles and links. It is truly one of the best sites I have visited. Thank You very much.

The museum is wonderful - so is the entire Web Site . I lived in Fairfield for 11 years before moving here 8 years ago. I still have a special feeling everytime I see San Francisco... This was like a "trip home"-- We are visiting next month and I can't wait to get back. This is going to be one of my most frequent visits on the Web site and have a few other "Californians" who live here that will be thrilled.
